- a historical or projected capacity to repay
- a clear credit history
- owner's equity in the business
- experience in the business
- eligible business (see list of uneligible businesses below)
The following industries are not eligible for financing at Bay Gulf
- pawn shops
- trailer parks, campgrounds, and transient motels
- SBA loan packagers
- businesses engaged in gambling activities
- membership-based businesses
- internet service providers, internet marketing companies, or other internet-based businesses
- amusement/recreation businesses, excluding bowling centers
- record and pre-recorded tape stores
- businesses located outside of the continental United States
