NCUA is backed by the full faith and credit of the United States Government, just like the FDIC, and insures accounts up to at least $250,000, with IRAs insured separately for up to $250,000. Additionally, Bay Gulf Credit Union has not ever made nor will we ever make sub-prime mortgage loans nor have we invested in risky securities.
